What´s On in Berlin: Art Eats Brunch New York Edition

Bagels & Film
Last Sunday, with Indian Summer vibes hanging in the streets of downtown Neukölln, the third edition of Art Eats Brunch took place at film centre Wolf (set to open in late 2015). Organized by moving image collective nowMomentnow and the delightful gastronomy of FoodGASM. ‘A double-barreled culinary and cultural delight’, so they said. That was all about a classic New York style brunch and a delicious film program this time.
And double-barreled it was! A mouth-watering brunch was served in the darkness of the cinema, and as soon as the curtains opened it was sided with a penetrating film program from local artists & filmmakers. Part fundraiser, part screening, part social convergence. An opportunity to mingle with the teams behind this three wonderful initiatives
All proceeds from this Pop-Up Café went towards funding the contemporary film initiative Wolf (Weserstrasse 59).
‘Walk with Me’
The 90 minute film program presented by nowMomentnow consisted of short film works from Berlin-based video artists and filmmakers. It showcased the work of nowMomentnow’s friends and collaborators. Featuring: Hanna Bergfors & Kornelia Kugler, Diane Busuttil, Julian Curico, Tracie Farrell, Imogen Heath, Elliot Hughes, Nadja Krüger, Marit Östberg, Dušan Pej?i?, Tina Ribarits, Liz Rosenfeld, Zoya Honarmand, and Sadie Weis.
Each work highlighted a unique approach to experimental filmmaking and storytelling that ignited the audience to consider alternative representations of the body, desire and movement. Questions surrounding positionality, personal narrative, and emotional connectivity were weaved through the program, whilst offering a distinct sense of self and hope.
An enticing exploration of a queered eye, considering the way in which we touch the world, and the world touches us back. And in case you wonder: it certainly did! Just to raise some fair expectations…
